One designer, from the first sketch to the last cushion.
Katherine Bedson has run her own studio since 2017. Based in the Sussex countryside and drawn to its charm, she specialises in period properties and country homes — houses with history, awkward corners and generous proportions, where the answer is rarely a coat of paint and a new sofa.
Spatial planning is where every project begins. Rethinking how the rooms flow into one another, questioning where the walls and doorways sit, and making subtle but significant changes that alter how the whole house works — often before a single fabric is chosen.
From there it runs all the way through: concept schemes and sampling, full technical drawings issued to and worked through with your contractor, furniture and lighting sourced, and soft furnishings made and hung. And because she is a mother herself, the design allows for family life rather than fighting it.
The house does not stop at the back door. Through KB Landscapes, headed by Katherine's husband Greg with a small vetted team, the same studio takes on garden design, landscaping, fencing and maintenance — so the view from the new window is designed alongside the room it sits in.
The plan comes before the paint
Spatial planning is where every project starts. Rooms are re-thought on paper — flow, light, storage, where the openings should really be — before a single finish is chosen. It is the cheapest moment to move a wall and the only moment to change how a house works.
Drawn properly for the builder
Not a mood board handed to a contractor. Full technical drawings — plans, elevations, joinery and setting-out — issued to your builder and worked through with them on site, so the design is built as drawn rather than interpreted.
Inside and out, one studio
Through KB Landscapes, the garden is designed and built by the same studio — so terraces, levels and planting are planned against the rooms that look onto them, on one programme instead of two.

A free first visit, then a plan.

A conversation, then a visit
A free, no-obligation consultation. Katherine comes to the house, walks it with you, listens to how you actually live in it, and tells you honestly where the opportunities are — including the ones you had not thought of.

Plans, concepts and drawings
Spatial planning first, then a concept scheme: layouts, finishes, fabrics and lighting, with samples to live with. Where building work is involved, full technical drawings are issued to your contractor and worked through with them.

Sourced, installed and styled
Furniture, lighting and soft furnishings sourced and ordered, deliveries coordinated, curtains and blinds made and hung, and the rooms styled on completion — so you walk back into a finished house, not a project.

The studio is in Fernhurst, between Haslemere and Midhurst, and works across Surrey, Hampshire, West Sussex and London. Close enough to the villages on our doorstep to drop in with a sample, and used to running London projects from here.
